Pandora Personalizes Your Music Selections

by Small Business Ideas

Have you heard of Pandora? I first heard of Pandora when my friend Amy mentioned it. Pandora is a music program that works through your browser. You first start by typing in a song or artist you like, then it goes and searches for other songs with similar attributes. It will play a song, and you can tell them if you like that song or not, and it will make more choices for you based on your selections. I started with a selection by Dido, and they found similar sounds. It’s been created for me, based on what I like! If you don’t like a song, you can tell them not to play it anymore. It’s a great way to find new artists who have a sound you like. I’ve been playing with the “Dido Station” as they named it for awhile. I’m going to move onto a Classic Rock one next. This is a free project and all you need is to have a flash player installed on your computer, which many all ready have.

They offer a free version that is supported by ads, or a subscription based service which runs under $10 monthly. You can create up to 100 stations on both of these, and have no limit on the amount of time you can listen. You can get a full year for $36 dollars, or pay quarterly with a charge of $12. You will need a credit card if you buy the subscription. Be aware that they have an auto-renewal, so you’ll want to know that before signing up. Again, they do have a free service, just with ads, and the ads are not pop-up.

To try this out, you can go to the site at Pandora.com and get started. They will give you a sample of listening to about 5-10 songs before you’ll be asked to sign-up with an email address, a zip code and a birthdate. This is a cool service and one you’ll be glad you checked out. I’m glad I heard about it- Thanks Amy!
