Do you have an employee who has a glaring red mark when it comes to their absentee record?
It’s one thing to look down on excessive absenteeism, but quite another to have a policy on record. Do you have a running policy, and is the employee aware of it. Having policies in writing, and making employees aware of their actions can help you in the long run if you have to let somebody go at some point.
Documentation is an important part of being a business owner, and when it comes to employees, it’s crucial. If you have a policy in effect, are you following it? Do you have a warning system in place, possible a verbal warning, a written warning and then termination?
A written statement that tells the employee that they are not meeting the requirements and need to show improvement or they may be terminated may save you a lot of hassle if it comes time to terminate the employee. What actions are you taking?
