Focus on Your Strengths and Weaknesses

“I QUIT!” is what I want to say when I get frustrated. That doesn’t work when the business is yours, and you’re the only employee! What you learn is that you have to find new ways to motivate yourself. Nobody is going to do it for you, so you have to want it bad enough to keep going.

That’s the stage I was in last week, thinking about throwing in the towel. Okay, so I wouldn’t have totally thrown it in, but maybe partially. Change is the one thing that’s constant. I’m not good with change, though I adjust well. Sure, I can roll with the punches, I just don’t like change, and it frustrates me.

When you rely on yourself, you quickly find your strengths and your weaknesses. By only working with your strengths, you’ll end up lacking something. Those areas of weaknesses need attention as well. Focusing on becoming comfortable with both areas will make you a more rounded and complete business person. It’s easy to avoid the things we don’t like, but when push comes to shove, it’s the person who faces that adversity head on that will conquer it. Ignoring it doesn’t make it go away, and may only make it harder when you get there.
