Fishing for Eyeballs? Use Great Bait!

Let’s face it, the title of this post is catchy! If it had read: “Use Great Headlines” it wouldn’t have sounded half as much fun. Over at CopyBlogger.com they speak often of catchy and magnetic headlines. While blogs like this one are trying to vie for your attention, think about how this can carry over into traditional advertising for your business.

If you’re writing an ad for your local paper, using a catchy headline and a picture can make a difference. A person can either glance at your headline and keep going, or you reel them in with something interesting. Make sure to include interesting copy along with why your products or services will benefit this potential customer.

You’ve got only a few seconds to make an impression. Think about how you personally read the paper. I don’t know about you, but a lot of times, I’m just scanning headlines to see if I want to keep reading. If something catches my eye, I’ll give it a few more seconds. A great opening paragraph will keep me there longer. The longer you have the potential client’s attention, but the better chance you have of making a connection.

Think creatively and be noticed by more people.
