Service With a Smile

I went out to lunch with my sister on Friday. The host who seated us wanted to be anywhere but at work that day; it was obvious.

In fact, when we sat down we said, “There’s someone thrilled with their job.” Seriously, could they have been any more unhappy, annoyed to be at work, and showing all their customers?

Yikes, they are representing their company, and our first impression of the new restaurant we tried hadn’t started out so great. Here we are, giving a new business (maybe yours) a try, and the first experience we have is someone basically throwing menus at a table, not being pleasant, and seemingly almost pissed off that they have to seat people.

What if that was your business? Yeah, I’d be upset too!

If people can’t represent your company as you’d like them to, you don’t want them working for you! He’s not doing that restaurant any favors. Bad day or not, problems in his life or not, if he can’t be professional enough to put it aside, and be pleasant to customers, he doesn’t need to work there.

How are your employees representing you?
